Following in the footsteps of the International Code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi and Plants (formerly the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature), the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has passed an amendment to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature making the electronic-only publication of nomenclatural acts acceptable if the electronic-only journal meets certain archiving criteria and the journal is registered on the ICZN's official online registry, ZooBank. Polar Research meets these criteria and is registered at ZooBank here: http://zoobank.org/6619D221-B4B3-4D0A-94A1-7C0BAA074921.

Authors should register their relevant articles in ZooBank after final acceptance but before publication in Polar Research. Under “Publication Status” select “This work has not yet been published.” After publication, the author should revisit ZooBank to update the registration with the final bibliographic details of the published paper and, if desired, to upload the final published version of the paper. (During the first, pre-publication, stage of registration, do not upload any version of the manuscript to ZooBank.)

For more information see http://zoobank.org/About and http://zoobank.org/Help. Please ask Polar Research’s editor if you need additional guidance.

Please note that the Editorial Office is in the process of registering older Polar Research articles that contain nomenclatural acts into ZooBank. If you are the author of such an article, please let us know so we can be sure to register your paper.
