Strategic challenges of tourism development and governance in Antarctica: taking stock and moving forward
by Machiel Lamers et al. (Published: 20 February 2012)

Polar Research promotes the exchange of scientific knowledge about the Arctic and Antarctic across disciplinary boundaries, serving an international community of researchers and environmental managers. The journal's international Editorial Board oversees the rigorous peer-review of submissions from around the world.

Scope
The scope of Polar Research encompasses research in all scientific disciplines relevant to the polar regions. These include, but are not limited to, the subfields of biology, ecology, geology, oceanography, glaciology, and atmospheric science. Submissions from the human and social sciences and those focusing on polar management and policy issues are welcome. Contributions about Antarctica are particularly encouraged.

Types of articles
Original primary research papers comprise the mainstay of Polar Research. Review articles, brief research notes, letters to the editor and book reviews are also included. All regular papers will be published immediately after they have been edited, copyedited and the proofs finalized. Thematic clusters of articles, typically conference proceedings, are published from time to time and will be collated into online collections published at one and the same time.
